“Society”

She shined like gold,
Thick or thin,
Refusing to fit the mould,
Society wished to place her in,
Cocoa brown skin,
Thick braided locks,
A shiny white grin,
And a voice dripping smart talk,
She did because she could,
Even if they thought her wings never would,
She rose like never before,
With the other colourful sisters she adores.
